Neo and Trinity (Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss) share a moment in the film's subway set. Modeling on the actors' faces was often achieved with several Kino Flo sources. "Bill Pope is a big fan of Kino Flos," says gaffer Reg Garside. "The source light was almost always soft — usually a 'cascade' of two Wall-O-Lites through an 8' by 8' frame of light gridcloth — and generated from one side. There's quite a lot of shadow in the film, and Bill often wouldn't have any light at all on the fill side of the actors' faces."
