The sets for Chicken Run took up more than 100,000 square feet at Aardman’s studio in Bristol, England. Although the filmmakers initially planned to use 24 units — 12 shooting while 12 were being prepared — they eventually had to employ 28 units to keep up with the production’s demands. A crew of 300 labored on the film during its 20-month shoot, and 32 animators worked on as many as 32 sets each day, often in two different scales.
