J. Devereaux Jennings (inset) is barely visible cranking his Bell & Howell 2709 during filming of Buster Keaton’s College (1927). This “rain-drenched” scene was filmed at the corner of Seward Street and Waring Avenue in Hollywood; the cloudburst was supplied by overhead pipes supported by makeshift stilts and by the special-effects man’s firehose. | ||
