Billy’s dance instructor, Mrs. Wilkinson (Julie Walters), begins to help him secretly prepare to audition for London’s Royal Ballet School. This scene was originally written as an elaborate, moonlit dance number that would take a full day to film, but a freak storm ruined Tufano’s nighttime-lighting rig at the last minute, forcing the crew to re-cable an afternoon-lighting rig. Tufano eventually shot the scene in less than 30 minutes.
