Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) ponders what he’s wrought. In detailing his approach to the film’s visuals, Cameron notes, “I wanted to get in there and play with flourescents and mercury vapors.” After testing colors quite a bit in preproduction, the filmmakers chose to limit the overall color palette primarily to sodium-yellow and mercury-blue, and let the individual locations dictate more saturated accents, which were often achieved with Rosco Cal Color gels.
