The following storyboards dreamed up by Spielberg and drawn by artist David Lowery detail selected frames from one of the film's major setpieces, in which a pair of T. Rexes attempt to send the scientists' mobile lab over the edge of an oceanside cliff. "I pretty much stage my suspense scenes on the storyboards, and I kind of make those up as I go along," Spielberg explains. "When you look at the storyboards, the scene's either suspenseful or it's not, and if it's not, that's the least expensive way to do a rewrite before you commit it to film. I have my crew members come up to me and tell me whether or not they think a board is suspenseful; if it isn't, it's easy to tweak it by adding shots or changing things around."
