The special peripheral equipment used to achieve the extraordinary sound track on Star Wars. The 70mm showcase releases of the picture employ a new technique Dolby has developed for an extended base response, using loudspeakers 2 and 4 (with five speakers behind the screen). In order to achieve the superior result, significant changes had to be made in the original recording of sound on location stages.
