Typical of an Aardman production, the church set, designed by Phil Lewis, features a number of visual gags that won’t be readily apparent to viewers. “All around the walls are monuments that have writing on them — hilarious bad puns, all painstakingly worked into the stone,” says Oliver. “It’s like the back of a statue: no one ever walks around to look at it, but someone has taken the time to do it.”
