In order to create a palette rich with shadows, Prieto and his gaffer, Benito Aguilar, had to find ways to control soft sources. Aguilar created a "Sputnik," so named for its unusual shape, using showcard that's black on one side and white on the other. (The black side formed the Sputnik's exterior.) Aguilar built a slot into the middle of the device to accommodate diffusion materials. He and Prieto used Sputniks on Juniors, Babies and 2K Open-Face units throughout the production. | ||
