John Bailey, ASC to Meet with Indian Filmmakers
The AMPAS president will also hold a workshop on cinematography for film students.
It was reported by The Hindu that:
John Bailey, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, will be the special invitee for this year’s Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards ceremony on May 26, Cultural Affairs Minister Vinod Tawde said on Monday.
“It is for the first time that the president of the academy will be part of an awards ceremony in India. This is an effort to highlight the experiments and the initiatives being taken in Marathi cinema,” Mr. Tawde said.
The minister said the government has been trying to create a special space for Marathi cinema through various measures. “From Goa to Cannes, we are trying to screen as many Marathi films as possible to ensure that producers and directors from across the world watch these films,” he said.
Tawde said that Bailey — a vocal supporter of world cinema — will also hold a cinematography workshop for film students.
