At IBC 2017 this September in Amsterdam, Matthews will showcase their new simplified rigging system, the MyWay Grip, plus two new C-stand KitBags.
Slated for its worldwide debut this September at IBC, Matthews has announced details on a new rigging system that they say will eliminate the inherent challenges of rigging thanks to an economical, versatile two-piece design. Whether working big budget or independent feature, the MyWay Grip is based on an interchangeable rigging system that will affix an industry-standard pin and mount with industry-standard receiver attachments on a patented connection that can accommodate a swath of different mounts, adapters, plates and clamps to enable exceedingly fast swaps.
“Gone are the days of milk crates filled with multiple types and sizes of rigging,” according to the Matthews’ product page. “Envision just pulling the safety retainer pin and changing a Baby Plate to a JR Plate in seconds. This flexibility offers complete freedom in creating custom rigging configurations today, and adaptability for tomorrow.”
Currently ranging in price from $47 to $185, there are a number of compatible mounts and clamps available from Matthews, including grid clamp, nail-on plate, chain vice grip, pipe clamp, Matthellini center and end jaws, and C-Clamps ranging in size from 4” to 12”. Attachments, adapters and pins are also available in several models, like 90-degree baby pin, Inbetweenie adapter, Jr receiver, Jr pin, baby receiver, and baby pins in 3”, 6” and 12” lengths.
The company also announced a rolling C-Stand KitBag (seen at top) for delivery this autumn. Built for durability with water-resistant 900D polyester and ballistic nylon exterior, the KitBags are available in two models. At 11 lbs. with shoulder strap, the $250 C-stand Shoulder KitBag (PN# 339775) will accommodate two fixed-base C-stands. It has a padded shoulder strap.
Though it’s slightly smaller in size, the $350 listC-Stand Rolling KitBag will house three removable-base C-stands as well as the Matthews RoadFlags II lighting modifications kit or other peripherals in an external compartment. The 24 lbs. Rolling KitBag has high-density silicon skate wheels and twin side handles for heavy lifting. There is a signup for pre-sale promotional offers and updates through the Matthews website.
