Sigma Releases 10-18mm Contemporary Lens
The F2.8 lens is available for L-Mount, Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X Mount.
Sigma Corp. of America has released the Sigma 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens, which is available for L-Mount, Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X Mount.
Designed for APS-C format mirrorless systems, the lens measures 2.8" x 2.4" and weighs 9.2 ounces. It covers a 15-27mm (35mm equivalent) focal range, with a constant F2.8 aperture.
The Sigma 10-18mm uses an aspherical concave lens with a large polarization ratio and high refractive index in the first group, reducing the number of elements in the first group and shortening the overall length. It also features a new push-on, petal-type hood; thanks to the spring and lever, the hood has been made both thinner and smaller, contributing to the overall compactness of the lens.
The optical design of the lens delivers a 4.6" minimum focusing distance and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the wide end. The optical design also minimizes focus breathing, and the stepping motor delivers swift, quiet autofocus during both still and video use.
The Sigma 10-18mm lists for $599.
