On Monday, August 5, a regularly scheduled ASC Board of Governors meeting hosted two special guest stars as congresswoman and Democratic presidential primary candidate Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and her husband, cinematographer Abraham Williams, stopped by the Society's historic Clubhouse in Hollywood.
The meeting included a brief political discussion between Gabbard and present members, including ASC president Kees Van Oostrum, Bill Bennett, Stephen H. Burum, Curtis Clark, David Darby, Caleb Deschanel, Fred Elmes, Levi Isaacs, Dan Laustsen, Charlie Lieberman, Stephen Lighthill, Lowell Peterson, John Simmons, Rodney Taylor and John Toll. The congresswoman detailed her position on various subjects, largely focusing on the issue of gun control.
Also in attendance were Steve Bellamy of Eastman Kodak, who coordinated the visit, and AC editor-in-chief and publisher Stephen Pizzello.
Williams, based in Hawaii, instigated the impromptu campaign stop, as visiting the Clubhouse while in Los Angeles was of keen interest.
