Alpa Offers Medium-Format 4K Video Via Hasselblad

Based in Zurich, Alpa now offers the Hasselblad H6D-100c digital back as a kit option for their Alpa line of medium-format cameras. At 53.4 x 40.0 mm, the Hasselblad H6D-100c digital back houses 100 megapixel (11600 × 8700 pixels, 4.6 × 4.6 μm) CMOS sensor for roughly the same coverage as 16:9.
Offering 3840 x 2160p capture at 30 fps, Hasselblad’s proprietary RAW format can be converted to Cinema DNG through Hasselblad’s Phocus software. With support for both SD and CFast cards, HD is also available in H.264 at 25 fps. The first models in Alpa’s new line of “Platon” motion-capture models will be designed for Arri PL mount and Canon EF mount lenses. Additionally, an adaptor for Pentax 67 format lenses is planned.
Based on Alpa’s lightweight 12 TC (Travel Compact) camera body, the Hasselblad H6D-100c digital back will be compatible with the Alpa 12 TC, Alpa 12 FPS, and Platon camera bodies. Alpa also offers Rodenstock, Hasselblad H, Hasselblad V, Contax 645, and Mamiya manual lens systems. An external power supply will be available to power the Hasselblad H6D-100c in the field.
With more motion products under development, Alpa has also designed Arri-Rosette and Universal Nato rail accessories, as well as lightweight supports for standard 15mm rod systems. For owners of other digital backs, the Alpa kits will also be available without the Hasselblad H6D-100c. Kit pricing starts at CHF 37.800.
