Viltrox Announces NexusFocus
The autofocus solution for manual cameras is available through Feb. 13 via a Kickstarter campaign.
Viltrox’s NexusFocus F1 is an autofocus solution for manual lenses.
The compact, lightweight adapter fits between the lens and the camera body. The system is compatible with Sony E-mount cameras and PL-mount Cine and CineMod lenses. It takes advantage of Sony’s phase-detection system and AI subject recognition and leverages those capabilities to drive motors for aperture, focus and zoom adjustments.
The Viltrox NexusFocus mobile app enables setup, with a wide range of lens-calibration profiles ready to go. The system automatically detects calibration status on startup. (Automatic calibration is currently only available on the iOS app version.) The app also provides Bluetooth wireless control with smartphones and iPads.
The adapter features a backlit status display panel on top, so users can instantly check the operating mode and lens data. The standard USB-C power port offers broad compatibility with professional equipment. The motor is powered by an external source to ensure reliable operation. The aluminum-alloy and stainless-steel solution features a dust-resistant seal at the camera-mount end of the adapter, and a detachable tripod mount allows for flexible support.
