ASC at Cine Gear L.A. 2023
Society members Michael Goi and John Simmons and associate member Otto Nemenz honored for their contributions to the motion-picture community.
The recent Cine Gear Expo, staged on the Paramount Studios lot from June 1-4, was a huge success and a great opportunity for ASC members to examine new gear while connecting with friends and collaborators.
On June 3, an all-star team of Society members arrived to greet an SRO crowd at the Sherry Lansing Theatre for a lively and candid panel discussion. The participants were (in the photo above, from left) Marcell Rév, Stephen Lighthill, Donald A. Morgan, Richard Vialet, Markus Förderer, moderator David Perkal, Armando Salas, Ava Berkofsky, Christian Sprenger and Cynthia Pusheck.
Cine Gear’s co-founder and CEO, Juliane Grosso, presented the event’s Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award to ASC associate member Otto Nemenz, the founder and CEO of Otto Nemenz International, while ASC member Michael Goi was presented with the Visionary Achievement in Cinematography Award. The newly established Karl Kresser Heart of the Community Award — named for Cine Gear’s late co-founder — was given to John Simmons, ASC for his tireless work as a mentor and community supporter.
