
Pat Scola Welcomed as ASC Member
The cinematographer's feature credits include Lurker, A Quiet Place: Day One, Sing Sing and Pig, which earned him an ASC Spotlight Award in 2021.
Pat Scola, ASC won the Society’s Spotlight Award in 2021 for Pig and received a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination last year for We Grown Now.
The New York native started learning his craft as a student at Emerson College, where he worked on nearly 50 short films, music videos and video-art projects, and he credits his peers with being particularly influential at that time: “Elie Smolkin [CSC] and Larkin Seiple were doing things that pushed me to elevate the work I was doing. The peer community really created a sense of healthy competition, with everyone trying to better themselves as a result.”

Scola began his career shooting music videos and commercials, and his work in that arena includes videos for The Weeknd, Alt-J, Billie Eilish, Chaka Khan and Mr. Little Jeans and commercials for Meta, Delta, AMEX and Mercedes.
His feature credits include Lurker, A Quiet Place: Day One, Sing Sing, And Then I Go and Monsters and Men. He recently wrapped The Death of Robin Hood, his third collaboration with director Michael Sarnoski following A Quiet Place: Day One and Pig.
Scola was named one of Variety’s “10 Cinematographers to Watch” in 2021.
