Upcoming ASC Master Class on Shooting Commercials and Music Videos  

Held December 2–6, this special session will be taught by Society members Wally Pfister, Lawrence Sher, Dan Mindel, Bill Bennett and David Darby.

Recognizing unique creative challenges in commercial and music video cinematography, the ASC is hosting a Master Class session featuring an in-depth look at these specialized fields of visual storytelling, taught by some of the finest image makers working today.

This session will be conducted exclusively by ASC members with extensive credits in commercials: Wally Pfister (Inception), Lawrence Sher (Joker) Dan Mindel (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) Bill Bennett and David Darby.

The week will consist of practical experience into the particulars of product shooting, car photography and much more. The ASC cinematographers will show and explain in detail the commercial camera workflow — from inception to mood boards to shooting — and will feature a look at specialty gear, such as state-of-the-art car mounts, the Russian arm, motion control and, of course, specialty lighting and eclectic lenses.

There will be hands-on direct training sessions held at the new ARRI studio in Burbank.

The week will also feature several social occasions to mingle and converse with the ASC instructors and other members at the historic ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood.
