ASC Welcomes Mălaimare as New Member
The cinematographer is best known for his collaborations with Francis Coppola, including Tetro, Twixt and the director’s upcoming sci-fi drama Megalopolis.
Mihai Mălaimare Jr., ASC attended the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L.Caragiale” Bucharest. He shot several award-winning shorts and features in Romania before filming Francis Coppola’s experimental independent feature Youth Without Youth, for which he received a Best Cinematography nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Mălaimare was named to Variety’s “10 Cinematographers to Watch” list in 2007. He made two additional indie features with Coppola, Tetro and Twixt, and recently shot the director’s sci-fi drama Megalopolis. His other credits include the features The Master, The Hate U Give, Jo Jo Rabbit and The Harder They Fall, as well as episodes of the series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
He is also an avid still photographer.
