Deakins to Receive Angénieux Award at Cannes

Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC will be presented with the Pierre Angénieux Excellens in Cinematography Award at the Cannes Film Festival on May 22. The event will take place at the Buñuel Theater.




Thales Angénieux created the award in 2013 to recognize the achievements of a prominent international director of photography. Philippe Rousselot, ASC, AFC, was honored with the inaugural award, and Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, received the award last year.




A native of Torquay in Devon, England, Deakins is a 12-time Academy Award nominee and a 13-time ASC Award nominee. He won ASC Awards for The Shawshank Redemption, The Man Who Wasn't There and Skyfall. He was honored with the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
