Bradford Young, ASC moderated a Q&A with Taiwanese cinematographer Mark Lee Ping-bing following a full-house screening of Hou Hsiao-hsien’s Millennium Mambo (2001) at New York City’s Metrograph theater on Sept. 7. (Details on their pre-screening interview here.)

Hou and Lee are frequent collaborators, and their work together, as well as Lee’s cinematography in films by Wong Kar-wai, Trần Anh Hùng and Ann Hui, has inspired a rising generation of cinematographers, including Young.

Among the attendees were ASC members Fred Elmes, Dejan Georgevich, Ed Lachman and Declan Quinn.

The screening was one in a series sponsored by the Taipei Cultural Center of TECO.
