Aputure has announced the Storm XT52.
The fixture’s BLAIR (Blue / Lime / Amber / Indigo / Red) light engine outputs tunable white light from 2,500-10,000K CCT and features Full +/- Green tint control. In Limited HSIC+ and xy modes, saturated colors covering more than 70 percent of the Rec2020 color space can be achieved. The use of an Indigo emitter to output near UV activates the natural fluorescence in people and objects, replicating what is seen in natural daylight and tungsten light.
The Storm XT52 weighs 61 pounds and can be used with a standard crank stand. The control box is 22 pounds and includes a mounting clamp to attach it to a light stand. The included head cable is 24.5' and can be extended to 148' with no loss in output. At 5,600K and a distance of 16.5' when used with the included 35° reflector, the fixture outputs 41,900 Lux.
The IP65-rated solution can be used at full brightness while powered by a 6,500-watt portable generator. Should the available power be limited, a menu option provides control of the fixture’s maximum power consumption, allowing it to be used in any situation in the field. The third-generation HyperDrive power system produces zero flicker at any color above 20-percent brightness, making the solution ideal for high-frame-rate photography.
A 35° reflector is included with the Storm XT52, and an optional Reflector Kit includes 20°, 25° and 50° options.
Aputure is showcasing two additional modifiers at the NAB Show this week (Booth N2969): the CF16 Compact Fresnel, which features a 20-62° adjustable beam utilizing the multi-optic compact physical design first seen in the CF12 Fresnel; and the Storm Parallel Beam 70, a 5° true Cassegrain dual-mirror reflector system.
