Blackmagic Design Releases Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2
The next-generation model features an adjustable touchscreen, a larger battery and support for an optional electronic viewfinder.
Blackmagic Design has released the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2.
A follow-up to the BPCC 6K, the new model features an adjustable touchscreen for easier framing, a larger battery and support for an optional electronic viewfinder. It offers the latest Blackmagic Generation 5 color science, a 6,144x3,456 Super 35 image sensor, dual-native ISO and an EF lens mount.
Made of lightweight carbon-fiber polycarbonate composite, the G2 features a multifunction handgrip with all controls for recording, ISO, WB and shutter angle. The sensor is designed to reduce thermal noise, allowing cleaner shadows and higher ISO. The 5" LCD enables perfect focus at 4K and 6K resolutions.
The Blackmagic OS interface uses simple tap-and-swipe gestures to adjust settings, add metadata and view recording status. Advanced camera features include on-screen focus and exposure tools, 3D LUTs, HDR, timecode and Blackmagic Raw settings.
Whether users are shooting in bright sunlight or almost no light, the 13 stops of dynamic range with dual-native ISO up to 25,600 provide low-noise images. Users can shoot up to 60 fps or 120 fps windowed. A dynamic 12-bit gamma curve is designed to capture more color data in the highlights and shadows.
The BPCC 6K models support an optional viewfinder to make outdoors and handheld shooting simple. An integrated 1,280x960 color OLED display with built-in proximity sensor and four-element glass diopter facilitate accuracy with a wide -4 to +4 focus adjustment. A built-in digital focus chart ensures perfect viewfinder focus setup. Users can also view critical status information such as frame guides. The Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF connects quickly via a single connector. The viewfinder has a 70-degree swivel range and comes with four types of eyecups for both eyes.
The NP-F570 battery facilitates longer shooting times, and a locking DC power connector means users won’t lose power during a shoot. The included AC plug pack can power the camera and charge the battery simultaneously, and the USB-C expansion port can trickle-charge the battery. An optional battery grip allows users to add batteries.
All BPCC models include DaVinci Resolve Studio, which features a new cut page with intelligent editing tools and new features designed to help users find, edit and output footage quickly.
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 is available now and lists for $1,995.
Blackmagic Design has also released Blackmagic Camera 7.9, which adds an array of features for BPCC models 4K, 6K, 6K Pro and 6K G2.
