Blackmagic Design Unveils Ursa Cine 17K 65, Pixys Monitor, Android Update
All of the solutions were recently showcased at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam.
Blackmagic Design has announced the Ursa Cine 17K 65 camera, the Pixys Monitor and Blackmagic Camera for Android 1.3.
The Blackmagic Ursa Cine 17K 65 camera includes a 65mm-format RGBW 17520x8040 sensor with larger photo-sites for 16 stops of dynamic range; interchangeable PL, LPL and Hasselblad lens mounts; and industry-standard Lemo and Fischer connections. The camera comes with 8TB of storage built in and includes high-speed networking for media upload and syncing to Blackmagic Cloud.
The Blackmagic Ursa Cine 17K 65 lists for $29,995 and is available to order now. The Ursa Cine 17K 65 + EVF will list for $31,495 and will be available to order soon.
The Blackmagic Pyxis Monitor is a 5" HDR touchscreen monitor with full camera control for the Pyxis. It provides an additional monitoring and camera-control option that can be mounted almost anywhere, so it is ideal for use when rigging or when accessories block the camera’s internal display.
The solution connects to the camera using a single USB-C cable that has locking screws at both ends. It works with any 1/4" mounts and supports industry-standard 1/4"-mount locating pins. The monitor will also work with Blackmagic Ursa Cine cameras.
The Blackmagic Pyxis Monitor will be available later this year and will list for $295.
Blackmagic Camera for Android 1.3 adds support for recording timecode with clips, which allows customers to quickly synchronize video and audio in postproduction and to use recordings from multiple cameras in a multi-cam edit with timecode sync.
The update also adds anamorphic lens de-squeeze functionality and lens-correction settings, as well as support for off-speed and time-lapse recording. Customers with Pixel 6, 7, 8 and 9 phones will now be able to record at higher frame rates, including 120 fps and 240 fps at 720p and 120 fps at 1080p. Additionally, Blackmagic Camera now supports Xiaomi 13T, Samsung Flip 5/6 and Fold 5/6 phones.
Blackmagic Camera is available from Google Play free of charge.
