Brompton Tech Expands Footprint in South Korea
The British company’s processing technology is integral to virtual-production stages at Va Studio Hanam and Xon Studios.
British company Brompton Technology is expanding its footprint in the Republic of Korea.
Va Corp.’s new Va Studio Hanam, offering 121,300 square feet of space and the largest LED wall in the country, provides in-camera visual-effects facilities optimized for immersive content production. Created in partnership with Ark Ventures, Inc., South Korea, the virtual-production infrastructure is powered by Brompton Technology LED processing, with 4K Tessera SX40 processors driving four large LED walls.
Va Studio Hanam includes three facilities that feature ROE Visual LED screens and Brompton Tessera processing. Studio A (4,360 square feet) features two ROE Sapphire 1.5 LED walls driven by a Tessera S8 and two Tessera SX40, along with four Tessera XD 10G data-distribution units; Studio B (6,920 square feet) has a large, curved LED wall comprising ROE Black Pearl 2, driven by four Tessera SX40 and seven Tessera XD units, and Studio C (11,710 square feet) features a 176' x 26' x 62' LED wall comprising ROE Black Pearl 2, with ROE Black Marble 4 for the floor. Ten Tessera SX40 power the LED volume, and 26 Tessera XD 10G data-distribution units deliver a flexible solution that addresses the challenges of such a display.
Each studio is also equipped with ROE Carbon CB5 LED panels for additional light or side fill. All panels have been dynamically calibrated with Brompton’s Hydra measurement system.
Brompton’s Tessera processing is also integral to VP and XR (extended-reality) capabilities at Xon Studios. The facility uses Aoto LED screens and Brompton Tessera processing — as well as the latest Unreal Engine, Disguise and Mo-Sys camera tracking — in its LED volume.
The setup, completed in May 2021, comprises a 1,080-square-foot LED volume made up of Aoto RM Series 2.3mm panels driven by four 4K Tessera SX40 LED processing and eight Tessera XD 10G data-distribution units.
The studio has already been used by LG, Samsung, Volkswagen Korea and Netflix.
