Canon Unveils Optical Unit for Select Box Lenses
The solution can be integrated into UHD-DigiSuper 122 and 111 lenses to create images with shallow depth of field.
Canon U.S.A., Inc., has unveiled an optical unit for 4K broadcasting that can be integrated into UHD-DigiSuper 122 and 111 lenses to create images with shallow depth of field.
With the optical unit installed, camera operators can easily shift between traditional broadcast and more cinematic looks. Additionally, the optical unit maintains a consistent color tone with existing field lenses. Users can select from among 1x standard, 1x Novel Look and 2x extender, all from the same lens.
Canon is showcasing the UHD-DigiSuper 122 Novel Look lens and other solutions at the NAB Show this week (Booth N2103).
The optical unit will be available for installation in DigiSuper 122 and 111 lenses at Canon Service locations later this year. Versions of the lenses with the optical unit preinstalled will be available subsequently.
