Cinelease Opens N.J. Studio
Leasing will begin immediately in the Jersey City facility, which features 70,000 square feet of stage space.
Cinelease Studios-Caven Point has opened its doors in Jersey City, N.J.
Located at 21 Caven Point Ave., the facility features 70,000 square feet of stage space, along with workshop and flex space. It is the largest film studio in New Jersey and the first purpose-built facility of its kind in the state.
“When we reinstated the film tax credit in 2018 and expanded it late last year, this is exactly the type of project we envisioned,” said Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ), who cut the ribbon Aug. 6. “New Jersey is where filmmaking began, and we are quickly regaining the reputation as a premier location for both film and television production.”
“New Jersey has long been a meaningful and oftentimes striking backdrop for filmmakers, but with this new facility, it can become the leading character,” said Cinelease General Manager Gannon Murphy.
Cinelease will begin leasing immediately. The company anticipates booking two to four major television and film productions a year in the new facility.
According to the N.J. Motion Picture & Television Commission, production in New Jersey resulted in more than $420 million in economic activity in 2019.
