New Rokinon Full-Frame AF 35mm E-Mount Lens

For Sony E-mount users, Rokinon has announced the AF 35mm (F2.8), priced at at $349. Expected for delivery in July, it joins the previously available Rokinon AF 14mm (F2.8) and Rokinon AF 50mm (F1.4) primes as a no-frills, compact optic built for speed and full-frame coverage. Only 1.2” in length and weighing 3.02 oz, the Rokinon AF 35mm (F2.8), AF 50mm (F1.4), and AF 14mm (F2.8) also have autofocusing abilities.

Likely to be of more interest to American Cinematographer readers, the Rokinon Cine DS 16mm (T2.6) super wide angle lens (below), announced in May, adds to the growing Rokinon Cine DS line of affordable manual-focus cinema lenses. Roughly 19 oz. in weight, the optical design of this lens includes two aspherical, two extra-low dispersion, and two high-refractive index lenses, as well as Ultra Multi Coating and nine diaphragm blades. Minimum focusing distance racks in at 11.8”. 

With a MSRP of only $599, the Rokinon Cine DS 16mm (T2.6) is available for preorder now. With this new addition, the Rokinon Cine DS family now includes Super 35 10mm (T2.2), 12mm (T3.1), 14mm (T3.1), Super 35 16mm (T2.2), 16mm (T2.6), 20mm (T1.9), 24mm (T1.5), 35mm (T1.5), 50mm (T1.5), 85mm (T1.5), 100mm Macro (T3.1) and 135mm (T2.2). Most average between $499 to $799 MSRP, with several bundled-prime-kits available for savings in cost. 

With 10 primes that can cover full-frame as well as two Super 35 / APS-C models, the Cine DS 10mm (T2.2) and Cine DS 16mm (T2.2), the Rokinon Cine DS lenses are available for Canon, Nikon, Sony E and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Starting with a 12mm (T3.1) fisheye, the range of Cine DS primes extends to 135mm (T2.2). 

Samyang, which produces Rokinon lenses, also offers the more expensive XEEN line of cinema lenses with oversized barrels and PL mounts at an average of $2,500 each.
