Nikon Acquires Red
Red founder James Jannard and former company president Jarred Land will serve as advisers to the Nikon subsidiary, which will be led by CEO Keiji Oishi and co-CEO Tommy Rios.
Nikon Corp. has finalized its acquisition of Red.com, LLC.
There will be no changes to Red’s current product lineup, partners and relationships with dealers. Red will continue its warranties, repair services, customer services and overall product support.
Jarred Land, former president of Red, is now an adviser to the company along with Red founder James Jannard. Keiji Oishi of Nikon’s Imaging Business Unit is CEO, and Tommy Rios, former executive vice president of Red, is now co-CEO.
“It is a proud moment for me to see Red, a brand that I have nurtured with passion for over 20 years, gain the opportunity to achieve new heights with the help of Nikon, a company that I also love,” says Jannard.
Oishi says he intends to “develop the market in a way that will pay respect to the corporate cultures of Red and Nikon,” adding, “You can look forward to Red’s future product development, which will aim to exceed the expectations of cinematographers around the world.”
