Red Digital Cinema has announced the V-Raptor 8K S35 and V-Raptor XL 8K S35, which feature the company’s new S35 sensor.

The sensor has the same scan time as its 8K VV counterpart while maintaining 16.5+ stops of dynamic range and coverage for Super 35 lenses. The V-Raptor XL 8K S35 also includes a new, integrated electronic-ND system, allowing for precise control of density in ¼-, 1/3- and full-stop increments.

“The V-Raptor and XL have produced some of the best imagery I’ve seen, and now that performance is available to the filmmakers who prefer the Super 35 format,” says Red Digital Cinema President Jarred Land.

Red released a limited-edition beta V-Raptor Rhino 8K S35 last fall, largely in response to requests from wildlife filmmakers.

The V-Raptor 8K S35 and XL are available for order through Red’s website and authorized resellers. The standard V-Raptor 8K S35 lists for $17,995, and the XL (available in either V-Lock or Gold Mount) lists for $34,995. The standard V-Raptor is also available in both a Starter Pack and V-Lock and Gold Mount versions of a Production Pack, while the XL is available in both V-Lock and Gold Mount versions of the Production Pack.
