Sigma Corp. of America has released the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art lens, an evolution that achieves a more compact profile than the original as well as enhanced optical performance, AF speed and operability.

By downsizing the zoom mechanism, Sigma engineers have shortened the total optical length and slimmed the lens barrel. In addition, buttons and switches have been designed into the lens barrel.

Available in Sony E-mount and L-mount, the lens features six FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements and five double-sided aspheric lenses. It offers a close-focusing distance of 6.7" at the wide end with 1:2.7 magnification and 13.4" at the long end with 1:4 magnification.

The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art lists for $1,199.
