Teradek Announces Ctrl.5, Prism 877
Ctrl.5 is a customizable lens-control handset with its own operating system. The Prism 877 card for the Prism Rack can be configured as an encoder or decoder on demand.
Teradek has announced Ctrl.5, a customizable lens-control handset with its own operating system, Ctrl.OS, a proprietary software toolkit based on SmallHD’s PageOS.
Combining a 5" SmallHD display with Ctrl.OS, the solution offers a graphic-rich lens-mapping tool that allows users to create, browse and select lenses mapped to pre-printed focus rings. Users can access saved configurations faster via the touchscreen or one of 11 programmable user buttons.
Hardware features include a user-adjustable friction knob; interchangeable, custom grips; and FHSS 2.4GHz wireless, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. As with previous RT handsets, a five-pin USB enables SmallHD overlays, meaning assistants never have to take their eyes off their monitor.
Users can customize such functions as digital marks, automatic calculations, focus scaling, pointer-color customization, axis lock/unlock, Metric/Imperial unit selection (via pre-marked rings) and third-party rangefinder support.
Future integrations include WiFi Camera Control for Red Digital Cinema cameras.
Ctrl.5 is cross-compatible with the entire Teradek RT lens-control ecosystem. Accessories sold separately include a bolt-on monitor hinge cube, a kickstand, a neck strap, a hand strap and a hand grip.
The Teradek Ctrl.5 lists for $4,999.
Teradek has also introduced the Prism 877 card for the Prism Rack.
The 877 provides the same 4K HEVC capabilities as previous cards but adds new functionality. It can be configured as an encoder or decoder on demand; with an optional license, it can encode and decode simultaneously.
