Adam Newport-Berra, ASC has won ASC and Emmy awards for his work on the series The Studio and received a Camerimage Golden Frog nomination for the feature The Last Black Man in San Francisco.

Born and raised in rural Oregon, he cites nature as both a catalyst for his interest in photography and a continuing influence on his artistic approach. He sparked to filmmaking through a love of storytelling, eventually zeroing in on cinematography “because it felt like the most powerful way I could help shape emotional and visual landscapes.”

After earning a BFA in film production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, he received his first break when a filmmaker friend, Ben Dickinson, saw some no-budget music videos he had shot and offered him a feature, First Winter. They reteamed on Dickinson’s follow-up Creative Control, and Newport-Berra’s credits in the feature domain have since included Barry, Blink Twice, Splitsville, The Invite and Club Kid.

His television work includes episodes of Euphoria, Outer Range and The Bear, and his music-video credits include MTV VMA-nominated work with Kendrick Lamar (“Count Me Out”) and Adele (“I Drink Wine”).
