Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC Wins Best Cinematography Oscar for Sinners
The cinematographer is the first woman of color be nominated, and the first woman to win, in this category.
Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC cinematographer of Sinners, was announced as the winner of this year's Oscar for Best Cinematography during the 98th Academy Awards, which is currently being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Durald is the first woman of color to be nominated, and the first woman to win, in this category. Her work on writer-director Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending horror feature also received nominations for an ASC Award, a BSC Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Camerimage Golden Frog, and won cinematography awards presented by the National Board of Review, the National Society of Film Critics, and numerous other organizations.
