James Cameron Demos Avatar Performance-Capture Tech

AC recaps a demonstration of production technologies used on the Avatar films The Way of Water and Fire and Ash, which filmmaker James Cameron recently led for a delegation of ASC members.

As part of a demonstration of his 'Avatar' filmmaking techniques to an ASC delegation, James Cameron uses a virtual camera to assist in experimenting with angles and character positioning for a sample scene. The device is fitted with IR emitters, so the volume cameras can track its physical position and orientation.
