ASC Inducts New Member Alejandro Martínez

The cinematographer has received two ASC Award nominations for his work on the series House of the Dragon.

Alejandro Martínez was born into a family with roots in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema and studied at Escuela Activa de Fotografia and in UCLA’s Extension program.


Through shooting horror movies and thrillers in the U.S. and Mexico, he connected with Spanish director Gabe Ibáñez; they collaborated on the award-winning short Máquina and the features Hierro and Autómata, for which Martínez received a Goya Award nomination.


His series credits include The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, The Mosquito Coast, House of the Dragon and Fallout. He has received two ASC Award nominations, including one this year, for House of the Dragon.


He is also a member of the Mexican Association of Cinematographers (AMC) and teaches cinematography at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica.
