ASC Welcomes Gavin Kelly as New Member
His recent camerawork can be seen in the Apple TV Plus anthology series Little America.
Based in Los Angeles, new member Gavin Kelly, ASC has shot a wide array of feature, episodic, commercial and music-video projects around the world.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Kelly won two student Emmys (National Student Production Awards) as an undergraduate visual-arts major at the University of California-San Diego and went on to earn an MFA in film production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He received an ASC Student Heritage Award honorable mention for the short film A Kiss on the Nose.
After shooting numerous other projects, including Ari Sandel’s Academy Award-winning short West Bank Story, Kelly served as director of photography on four seasons of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Story. He also shot the 2018 pilot and subsequent episodes of 9-1-1 and the 2021 pilot for The Equalizer.
After creating a dynamic look for the pilot Wu-Tang: An American Saga for showrunners RZA and Alex Tse, Kelly went on to shoot 14 episodes of the show.
His feature credits include The Dry Land, Sugar, Luv, Cabin Fever (2016), The Midnight Man and Sleep No More, as well as additional photography on Haunted Mansion.
His recent work includes the Apple TV Plus anthology series Little America.
