Berkofsky and Rutkowski to Instruct March ASC Master Class
The session will take place in Los Angeles, beginning at the historic ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood.
It was announced today that the teachers of the upcoming ASC Master Class taking place in Los Angeles on March 24-28 will include Society members Ava Berkofsky and Richard Rutkowski.
The ASC Master Class is an intensive five-day seminar designed for cinematographers who want to master an intermediate-to-advanced skill set. Instruction takes place in Hollywood and covers lighting and camera techniques and current workflow practices. All necessary equipment is provided.
Berkofsky has been a member of the ASC since 2022 and the cinematographer‘s credits include the series Insecure and the features The Front Room and Share. In 2021, Berkofsky earned ASC Award and Emmy nominations for the Insecure episode “Lowkey Lost,“ in addition to previous Emmy nods for the episodes “High-Like” and “Reunited, Okay?!” (Personal site here.)
Rutkowski was invited to join the ASC in 2019 and the cinematographer‘s credits include the series Sugar, Masters of the Air, Manhattan and The Americans. He won the ASC Award this year for the Sugar episode “Starry-Eyed.” He also earned an Emmy nomination for this episode, and earned previous ASC nominations for episodes of Manhattan (“Perestroika” and “Jupiter”). Additional ASC members will teach specific components of the March session, as well as attend as Ambassadors and be available to answer questions from students, including ASC Vice President Charlie Lieberman. They will be announced soon.
