Birns & Sawyer Offers Close-Up on Filtration
The creative use of lens filtration was detailed for ASC members.
Ron Engvaldsen, director of technology and marketing for Birns & Sawyer, discussed “Custom Movie Filters and Diffusion-Filter Theory” in a presentation at the Clubhouse in Hollywood on Sept. 23.
Engvaldsen explained how filters were designed and creatively applied on motion pictures such as Ad Astra, The Lighthouse, The Northman, Nope, Dune: Part Two and the upcoming Nosferatu.
ASC members in attendance at the dinner meeting included Andrzej Bartkowiak, Christopher Chomyn, Richard Crudo, Xavier Grobet, Gregg Heschong, Mark Irwin, Pan Luo, Cybel Martin, Peter Moss, John Newby, Steve Mason, Suki Medenčević, George Mooradian, Steven Poster, Steve Shaw and Roy H. Wagner.
