Churchill Picks Top Docs for Poll
Joan Churchill, ASC, was among 103 filmmakers who cast votes for the greatest documentaries of all time in Sight & Sound magazine’s recent poll.
She selected Darwin’s Nightmare; Dont Look Back; Waiting for Fidel; Soldier Girls (which she co-directed with Nick Broomfield); My Country, My Country; The Liberace of Baghdad; Trouble the Water; The Act of Killing; Diary of a Times Square Thief, and Hiver nomad.
Sight & Sound invited filmmakers and film critics to participate in the poll, surveying each group separately, and the results were published in the September issue. Both groups placed Dziga Vertov’s Man with a Movie Camera in the top spot.
