Cynthia Pusheck, ASC to be Honored by Women In Media

Cynthia Pusheck, ASC

Cynthia Pusheck, ASC is one of four women who will be honored at the 2019 Women In Media Holiday Brunch LA on December 15. Other honorees include director/production designer Catherine Hardwicke, composer Kathryn Bostic and production sound mixer Shawn Holden.

According to WIM, “We will be recognizing women who are making a mark in the entertainment industry and paving the way for greater female participation above and below the line.”

Pusheck, along with John Simmons, ASC, established the ASC Vision Committee in 2016 to support the advancement of underrepresented cinematographers and other filmmakers in order to make the entertainment industry more inclusive. The committee offers educational events and networking opportunities, and recently launched the ASC Master Class Scholarship Program and the ASC Vision Mentorship Program.

Pusheck is a frequent panelist in the Society’s Education & Outreach Committee panel series, saying, “I’m highly motivated to participate on these panels because I want students to see at least one female cinematographer up there!” She is also the first woman to serve as an ASC vice president.
