Phedon Papamichael, ASC has completed his run as guest curator of the ASC’s Instagram account and turned the responsibility over to fellow Society member Dana Gonzales.
A native of Los Angeles, Gonzales worked his way up through the ranks and notched credits as 2nd-unit cinematographer on features including Crash (2004), The Tempest (AC Jan. ’11) and The Fighter (AC Jan. ’11). Gonzales’ early credits as main-unit cinematographer include the feature Man in the Chair (AC Mar. ’08). Soon thereafter, he began collaborating with director Ric Roman Waugh, beginning with Felon (2008), followed by Snitch (2013) and the upcoming Shot Caller. Gonzales also enjoys a thriving television career, photographing such stylish series as Pretty Little Liars, Southland, Longmire and Fargo.
Gonzales has earned two Emmy nominations for his work in Fargo, winning in 2016 for the episode “Waiting for Dutch.”
