ICG Emerging Cinematography Awards Luncheon Held at ASC Clubhouse

ECA honorees were celebrated for their work, while special awards were given to AMPAS, Bill Bennett, ASC and American Cinematographer's own Stephen Pizzello.

The historic ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood welcomed the International Cinematographers Guild 2017 Emerging Cinematographers Awards luncheon on Friday, September 22, with Local 600 president Steven B. Poster, ASC warmly opening the well-attended event. 


The 2017 ECA honorees are David Auerbach, George Billinger, Kristen Correll, Daniel Friedberg, Michael Lockridge, Jeff Powers, Roham Rahmanian and Jen Schneider.

In addition to honoring the cinematographers that are the focus the ECA, three special awards were presented during the Clubhouse event. The Canon Award for Advancement in Digital Technology went to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science for their continued efforts with ACES (presented by Tim Smith of Canon). The Mentor of the Year Award was bestowed upon Bill Bennett, ASC for his exemplary work with for young filmmakers (presented by Stephen Lighthill, ASC). Finally, the Technicolor William A. Fraker Cinematography Journalist of the Year Award was given to American Cinematographer editor-in-chief/publisher Stephen Pizzello for his outstanding work in documenting the art and craft of cinematography (presented by Bob Hoffman of Technicolor).

The ECA luncheon is a run up to the screening program of honored films and awards ceremony that will take place at the Directors Guild of America on Sunday, September 24.
