Cinematographer Eric Steelberg, ASC will be the featured guest and speaker at the ASC Clubhouse on Thursday, November 15, from 1:30-4:00pm, during a “Coffee & Conversation” discussion focusing on his work in the period political drama The Front Runner, directed by Jason Reitman:
The film follows the true-life rise and fall of politician Gary Hart (played by Hugh Jackman), the U.S. Senator who captured the imagination of young voters and was considered the overwhelming front runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination before his campaign was sidelined by the story of an extramarital affair. As tabloid and political journalism merged for the first time, Hart was forced to drop out of the race — events that left a profound and lasting on American politics and the world stage.
A complete production story on The Front Runner will appear in the December 2018 issue of American Cinematographer magazine.
The Front Runner is Steelberg’s seventh feature film collaboration with Reitman, following Tully; Men, Women & Children; Labor Day; Young Adult; Up In the Air and Juno. His other credits include 500 Days of Summer, Baywatch and the upcoming biopic Dolemite Is My Name.
We are pleased to welcome him to the ASC Clubhouse for this exclusive discussion, which will be moderated by filmmaker, American Cinematographer contributor and ASC associate member Jay Holben. Time will be set aside for questions from the audience.
