Red and the ASC hosted a festive celebration of the 77th Emmy nominees in categories for camerawork on September 4 at the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood. The hundreds of guests in attendance included Emmy nominees, ASC members, associates and staff, cinematographer agents and guests, and representatives from camera maker Red, a Nikon company.

This year's nominees for achievement in cinematography included 10 ASC members: Adam Bricker (nominated for both Hacks and Chef's Table); M. David Mullen (Étoile); Ben Kutchins (The White Lotus); Jacques Jouffret (American Primeval); John Conroy (Zero Day); Emmanuel Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel (Disclaimer); Erik Messerschmidt, Charles Libin and Richard Rutkowski (each of whom operated camera on Bono: Stories Of Surrender). Adam Bricker, ASC — a two-time 2025 Emmy nominee for his cinematography on both Hacks and Chef's Table — is joined by ASC member George Mooradian, a seven-time Emmy nominee and current co-chair of the Society's Education & Outreach Committee.

Naida Albright, senior director of global strategic relations for Red Digital Cinema/Nikon, welcomed guests and led several rounds of applause for the nominees. In her remarks, she congratulated the nominees on their outstanding work, and quoted the late Gordon Willis, ASC, saying, "Simplicity should not be confused with being simplistic. Simplistic is doing something badly. Simple is making thoughtful choices. A single light coming through a window can be beautiful. Simple is when you take a sophisticated idea and reduce it to the simplest possible terms.

Zoë White, ACS — a 2025 Emmy nominee in the category of Outstanding Cinematography For A Nonfiction Program for her work on Will & Harper — and Naida Albright, Red's senior director of global strategic relations and an ASC associate member, enjoy the festivities.

"I’m sure many of you know this quote well, and several of you in attendance knew Gordon personally," Albright continued, "I think that is what cinematography does at its best. It engages the viewer without drawing attention to the craft. It serves the story. It’s simple, and it’s not."

Red also assembled a montage of the nominated cinematography, which played during the celebration. Guests mingled in the ASC’s outdoor courtyard, and indoors, including gathering at Billy’s Bar, while enjoying hors d’oeuvre and drinks, including an Emmy-themed cocktail.
