Apple has launched the Vision Pro headset, a spatial-computing platform with features aimed at working, collaborating, connecting and viewing entertainment in a blend of the physical and virtual worlds.
The device is powered by a pair of custom Apple Silicon M2 processors and a new R1 chip, which processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors and six microphones to create an immersive experience. Two 1.41" micro-OLED displays with a combined resolution of 23 megapixels deliver content at 90 fps.
Users can view a variety of 3D content, including recent features such as Avatar: The Way of Water, on what appears to be a giant movie screen in a living room or even on a mountaintop.
Vision Pro supports Apple Immersive Video, a new format that includes 180-degree 3D video and spatial audio. Immersive videos can be captured using the headset or iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
The Apple Vision Pro starts at $3,499 and is available to pre-order now for shipping in February.
