Pixomondo to Lead Sony LED Volume
The Sony facility is geared toward filmmakers interested in innovative production solutions, with a specific focus on complex vehicle-process work using in-camera VFX.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced that Pixomondo will assume operation and management of SPE’s LED virtual-production stage later this month.
Built in 2022 by Sony Innovation Studios, which currently manages it, the LED volume is located on Stage 7 on the Sony lot in Culver City, Calif.
Most recently, the stage provided the backdrop for the Iniko music video “Jericho.” The video was captured with Sony Venice cameras coupled with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.
With more than 30 virtual-production projects to its credit, Pixomondo brings a global infrastructure to Stage 7, which will become its third permanent LED stage. The Sony facility is geared toward filmmakers interested in innovative production solutions for commercials, television and film, with a specific focus on complex vehicle-process work using in-camera VFX.
Pixomondo Executive Producer Chris Cox will oversee the facility.
