Sony Set to Ship Xperia 1 II Smartphone
The triple-camera array supports advanced photo technologies with Zeiss optics calibrated specifically for the device.
Sony Electronics has announced that its new flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 II, will ship July 24.
Designed with Sony’s Alpha AF technology, the triple-camera array with focal lengths of 16mm, 24mm and 70mm supports advanced photo technologies with Zeiss optics calibrated specifically for the device, as well as Zeiss T* coating, which reduces reflections.
Featuring a 6.5" 21:9 4K HDR OLED screen, the Xperia 1 II offers continuous autofocus and auto-exposure that performs AF/AE calculations at 60 times per second.. This enables continuous tracking for high-speed shooting at a maximum of 20 fps, which is especially useful for shooting moving subjects and fast-moving sports.
Xperia 1 II fast focus also works in low-light conditions thanks to four technologies working together: a dual-photo diode sensor, an autofocus system that covers approximately 70 percent of the sensor, a 3D iToF sensor and a new, 1/1.7" Exmor RS-for-mobile sensor, which is 1.5x more sensitive than the previous model.
The new Photography Pro function brings a user interface that is familiar to Alpha cameras, with manual controls to set ISO, shutter speed, burst mode, autofocus area, exposure control and more.
Cinematography Pro, powered by CineAlta, supports up to 2K 120fps 10-bit HDR cinematic high-frame-rate shooting and 21:9 4K HDR recording at 24/25/30/60 fps.
The Xperia 1 II features motion-blur-reduction technology equivalent to that of a 90Hz display and Dolby Atmos sound.
Featuring IP65/68 water resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on both sides, the smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that charges up to 50 percent in 30 minutes, and it features Qi wireless charging for a fast battery boost while on the move.
The Xperia 1 II lists for $1,199.99.
