American Cinematheque Honors Michael Ballhaus, ASC, BVK with Screenings

The American Cinematheque, with the support of the Goethe-Institut, will honor the memory of ASC member Michael Ballhaus with a series of screenings.

The American Cinematheque, with the support of the Goethe-Institut, will honor the memory of ASC member Michael Ballhaus with a series of screenings at both the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica from May 3-13.


One of the most esteemed and influential cinematographers of the modern era, Ballhaus died at his home in Berlin on April 12 at the age of 81. Our complete obituary can be found here.

Among the films to screen are Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Goodfellas, The Departed, After Hours, The Color Of Money, The Bitter Tears Of Petra Von Kant, Beware Of A Holy Whore and World On A Wire.
