Stephen Lighthill, ASC is currently hosting the ASC's Instagram feed. He takes over from Larry Fong, ASC, who helped to inaugurate the account a few weeks ago and attracted 1,300 followers during his tenure as host.
Lighthill got his start as a news cameraman, and he created one of the first shoulder-held 16mm news cameras while working for CBS News and 60 Minutes. His documentary cinematography credits include Sons and Daughters (Days of Protest), Gimme Shelter and Berkeley in the Sixties, as well as HBO’s anthology series Vietnam War Story. He was also the director of photography on the series Earth 2, Nash Bridges and The Huntress.
Lighthill has been the Senior Filmmaker in Residence: Cinematography at the AFI Conservatory since 2004. He serves on the ASC Board of Governors and was president of the Society from 2012-2013.
